PABM WANTS FIRDAUS TO FOLLOW PROPER PROCEDURES

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 17 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Weightlifting Association

(PABM) has asked its athlete, Firdaus Abdul Razak, to follow proper procedures
and channels to defend himself after his sample B for anti-doping at the last
SEA Games in Indonesia was also confirmed to be positive.
PABM president, Zafarul Akbar Kassim said the association understood that
Firdaus was frustrated and depressed over the situation, but it was not fair if
he ignored the association and decided to make an open accusations.
"We have established an investigating committee consisting of three
PABM representatives and one senior representative each from the National Sports
Council (NSC), National Sports Institute (ISN) and the Olympic Council of
Malaysia (MOM) to ensure transparency in the investigation.
"Firdaus should sumbit evidence to the committee that he is not guilty and
not make open statements," he told Bernama when asked to comment on
allegations by the Kedah-born athlete that he was forced by his coach to take
two white capsules during training in China before taking part in the
Indonesia SEA Games.
Zafarul Akbar said the PABM investigating committee would listen to
Firdaus''s explanations and he was allowed to bring a witnesses.

He requested Firdaus not to make any more open statements, instead discuss
the matter when he was called to testify next week.
Meanwhile, national weightlifting head coach, Lin Xin Hui rejected
such allegations and deemed them unfounded.
Lin said Firdaus needed to think and tell the truth before making
accusations and not point fingers at other people.
"If Firdaus'' allegations are true, why other athletes did not test positive
in anti-doping tests.
"After all Firdaus did not even win gold but the bronze medal...he should
not make unfounded allegations because it will affect the training of the other
athletes," he said.

PABM korek hingga akar umbi

KUALA LUMPUR – Persatuan Angkat Berat Malaysia (PABM) akan menubuhkan jawatankuasa siasatan bagi mengorek sehingga ke akar umbi punca sebenar atlet lelakinya, Firdaus Razak gagal ujian doping.
Presidennya, Zafarul Akbar Kassim mengesahkan pihaknya telah menerima keputusan rasmi sampel B yang ditunggu sekian lama daripada Majlis Olimpik Malaysia (MOM) semalam.
“Selepas lama menunggu, saya akhirnya dihubungi MOM bahawa laporan rasmi ujian yang dijalankan Inasoc (Jawatankuasa Penganjur Sukan SEA Indonesia) telah diperolehi.
“Keputusannya adalah positif, sama dengan sampel A,” katanya ketika dihubungi semalam.
Berikutan perkembangan itu, kata Zafarul, kes membabitkan Firdaus akan dirujuk kepada biro disiplin yang diketuai Zainuddin Rashidi untuk tindakan selanjutnya.
“PABM akan mengeluarkan notis kepada tertuduh (Firdaus) esok (hari ini) untuk menghadap jawatankuasa siasatan.
“Saya selaku penasihat biro disiplin akan terlibat secara langsung dalam siasatan ini, kami mahu mendengar sendiri penjelasan tertuduh.
“Ia tidak sepatutnya semudah dengan hanya menghukum atlet itu dan isu berakhir.
“Lebih penting, kami mahu mencari bagaimana dan dari mana ia bermula, siapakah lagi yang terlibat sebab ada kemungkinan jurulatih menjadi dalang,” tegasnya.
Tambah Zafarul, jawatankuasa siasatan yang ditubuhkan akan dianggotai seorang dua pemerhati luar bagi memastikan hasil siasatan adalah telus.
Berhubung calon pemerhati luar, PABM bercadang menjemput wakil daripada MOM.
Zafarul yakin siasatan akan dapat dilengkapkan seawal-awalnya dua minggu.

PABM akan hantar surat rayuan kes penggantungan Raihan

KUALA LUMPUR - Persatuan Angkat Berat Malaysia (PABM) akan memohon kepada Persekutuan Angkat Berat Dunia (IWF) supaya meringankan hukuman penggantungan empat tahun ke atas altet wanita negara, Raihan Yusoff, atas kesalahan mengambil bahan larangan.

Presiden PABM Zafarul Akbar Kassim berkata mereka berharap badan dunia itu dapat mengurangkan hukuman itu kepada dua tahun sahaja memandangkan atlet berusia 24 tahun itu merupakan antara atlet harapan negara dalam sukan itu.

Pemenang pingat gangsa dalam acara 53kg Sukan Komanwel New Delhi 2010 India itu dikenakan penggantungan empat tahun dan didenda sejumlah US$5,000 (RM15,100) oleh IWF setelah gagal dalam ujian anti-doping ketika menyertai Kejohanan Dunia Kelayakan Olimpik di Paris, November lalu.

"Raihan mempunyai rekod bersih dengan persatuan. Saya bimbang sekiranya dikenakan hukuman yang begitu lama, ia mungkin mengurangkan minatnya dalam angkat berat pada masa depan," katanya kepada Bernama, hari ini.

Zafarul berkata pihaknya turut membincangkan kes berkenaan dalam mesyuarat yang diadakan dua hari lepas bersama Ketua Pengarah Majlis Sukan Negara (MSN) Datuk Zolkples Embong dan Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Institut Sukan Negara (ISN) Datuk Dr Ramlan Abdul Aziz.
  
Beliau turut mengakui penggantungan Raihan sedikit sebanyak menjejaskan persiapan skuad wanita negara menghadapi beberapa kejohanan penting tahun ini terutamanya Kejohanan Elit Asia di Korea pada April yang menjadi medan terakhir atlet Asia melayakkan diri ke Olimpik London 2012, Julai ini.

"Bagaimanapun, kita sedang mengambil inisiatif dengan menyerap beberapa atlet pelapis kebangsaan yang berpotensi bagi memantapkan skuad sedia ada dalam menghadapi kejohanan lain sepanjang tahun ini," katanya. - Bernama

Dear  Mr. Dato Ong Poh Eng:

Greeting of sports,

We are very grateful for the willingness of Mr. Dato to lead Weightlifting match at the SEA Games in Palembang XXVI - South Sumatra - Indonesia.

We apologize for any shortcomings of our service during the weightlifting match was running especially in terms of consumption such as reports from our fellows dealing with hospitality who got complaints and humiliation  from your  President of the Federation.

For consumption,  we had difficulty to provide in the form of “buffet” for taking catering to the venue was clearly forbidden, if it  was  outside Jakabaring Sports City Complex, we might have conditioned  it. Frankly speaking, the food allocation was provided for the committee only, however, we kept adding it so that all Technical Officials could carry out  their duties properly.

Sorry, I am wondering if it is  appropriate for a President of Federation to humiliate by stringing up fried chicken while saying “ Is it appropriate to serve international guests with food in box like wrapped rice?” plus a satire "I think you must know how the food looks like in international weightlifting events”

Another report is when our hospitality fellows offered a drink but he requested Fanta. Since it ran out, we offered plain water and isotonic drink then but he was mad instead. But surprisingly when our fellows left him, he drank it too.

Did a President of the Federation  not have staff to deal with our shortcomings?
Another thing is that he offered a pin to one of our female colleagues but  she had to kiss him first.

I do not know whether it was true or not,  but the reports were not only from one person, even some of our fellows felt so startled to hear that.

The honorable Dato Ong Poh Eng , I received each complaint as feedback or constructive criticism so that we can be getting better but I think  the behavior of a President of the Federation was inappropriate.

Pardon me please if later the invitation of referee election  from your country will not be through him but through the direct appointment of  name. I will not dispute that but  I am so sorry to end up the good relationship with him and I will keep distance toward him.

Once again, I apologize profusely if there are some sentences in this sharing which feel mean to your heart.
